TROOP A NEWS RELEASE
April 26, 2015
Jarreau Man Killed in Pointe Coupee Parish Crash

Jarreau Shortly after 4:30 pm on April 26, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred on LA Hwy 413 north of LA Hwy 414 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash took the life of 22 year old Thomas H. Bueche of Jarreau, LA.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Bueche was driving a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on LA Hwy 413. Bueche was traveling at a high rate of speed, and nearly struck another northbound vehicle in the rear. Bueche passed the vehicle in the southbound lane, but shortly after the Chevrolet ran off the roadway to the left. Upon doing so the Chevrolet struck a mailbox and then a utility pole. After striking the utility pole the vehicle then struck a tree on the driver’s side.

Bueche was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He suffered fatal injuries as a result. Impairment is a possible factor, and a toxicology sample was taken from him and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seat belt use. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Wearing a seat belt greatly reduces the chances of receiving serious injuries in a crash as well. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle to always remain buckled up, regardless of seating position.
