TROOP A NEWS RELEASE January 15, 2015 Two Men Arrested after Troopers Find Meth During Traffic Stop Port Allen – On January 15, 2015, Louisiana State Police Troopers arrested two men, one from Florida and another from Georgia, for being in possession of methamphetamine while traveling through Louisiana. The arrests came after Troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish. Shortly after 3:30 am on January 15th, Troopers observed a 2015 Hyundai Veloster traveling eastbound on I-10 west of LA Hwy 415. Troopers stopped the driver of the Hyundai (47 year old Mariano Alis Ismael Vicente of Miami) for a traffic violation. Troopers obtained consent to search the vehicle from Vicente. Upon doing so Troopers located nearly 9 pounds of methamphetamine in a children’s backpack in the trunk, as well as approximately 4 pounds of liquid methamphetamine in a cooler. After discovering the narcotics, Vicente and a passenger (65 year old Ismael Bragin of Cartersville, GA) were placed under arrest. Vicente was charged with Improper lane usage and Possession with intent to distribute narcotics (methamphetamine). Bragin was charged with Possession with intent to distribute narcotics (methamphetamine). Both were transported to the West Baton Rouge Parish jail and booked on the above listed charges. Louisiana State Troopers will continue to provide the citizens of Louisiana a safer community through proactive drug related enforcement and cooperative efforts with local and federal law enforcement agencies. Troopers will target local and multi-state drug trafficking organizations by enforcing all state and federal laws governing the illicit manufacturing, distribution, sale, and use of drugs.
