TROOP A NEWS RELEASE
February 8, 2015
Motorcyclist Dies in East Feliciana Parish Crash

Clinton At approximately 12:00 pm on February 8, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred on LA Hwy 432 east of LA Hwy 67 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 61 year old Debra N. Justilian of Slidell, LA.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Justilian was riding a 2013 Can-Am motorcycle westbound on LA Hwy 432. As Justilian entered a left hand curve her motorcycle ran off the roadway to the right for unknown reasons. After leaving the roadway the vehicle went down an embankment. Upon doing so Justilian was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a fence post.

Despite the fact that she was wearing a safety helmet, Justilian received fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Impairment is not suspected; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Justilian and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Troopers urge motorcyclists of all ages and experience levels to take extra precautions while riding and ensure that they are properly prepared and trained for a variety of riding conditions. Through participation in certified training programs, riders are educated on safe riding practices such as being visible, dressing for safety, applying effective riding strategies, and knowing the capabilities and limitations of their motorcycle. Motorcyclists are taught how to apply these safety practices to not only avoid being involved in a crash but to greatly reduce the chance of injury should a crash occur.
