Reckless Driver Arrested for Crash that Closes I-10 Eastbound in Calcasieu Parish

IOWA, LA – A Lake Charles woman was arrested today after she caused a crash that resulted in the closure of I-10 Eastbound and traffic being backed up several miles.

On September 19, 2016, at about 1:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 Eastbound about two miles west of the town of Iowa. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Buick Regal driven by 21-year-old Brittany Monique Victorian of Lake Charles was traveling east on I-10 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle she was driving struck a 2006 GMC Sierra driven by Michael Hannon of Iowa. The force of the impact caused the GMC to become lodged on top of the concrete divider wall.

The Buick than struck a 2017 Freightliner truck driven by Christopher Matthews of Clinton, LA. This impact caused the truck to lose control and block the highway.

Hannon was injured and transported to a Lake Charles hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The other drivers were not injured. All lanes were reopened about 3:30 p.m.

Victorian was charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, negligent injuring, simple obstruction of a highway of commerce, speeding, improper lane usage, and driving under suspension. She was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. The crash remains under investigation.
