TROOP D NEWS RELEASE September 24, 2016 Starks Man Dies in Beauregard Parish Crash BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA – A Starks man was killed and two other people were injured following a crash this morning about 6 miles north of Starks. On September 24, 2016, shortly after 6:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 109 in western Beauregard Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 GMC Sierra driven by 22-year-old Trey Jones of Starks was traveling north on LA 109 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line and struck the front of a southbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 41-year-old Jonathan Shane Says of Starks. Says was pronounced dead at the scene by the Beauregard Parish Coroner’s Office. A passenger in the truck Says was driving was transported from the scene with moderate injuries. Jones was transported from the scene with serious injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained from the drivers for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D has investigated 26 fatal crashes resulting in 30 deaths this year. This is the second fatal crash on LA 109 in the last two days. Contact Information: | |||
