TROOP D NEWS RELEASE September 26, 2016 Collision with Tree Leads to Death of Reeves Man LEBLANC, LA – A Reeves man died today after the vehicle he was driving traveled off of the highway and struck a tree. On September 26, 2016, at 4:33 p.m., Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on US 190 in Allen Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Dodge pickup truck driven by 75-year-old Chester Cormier, Sr. of Reeves was traveling on US 190 in the community of LeBlanc between Reeves and Kinder when for unknown reasons the vehicle traveled off of the roadway and struck a large tree. Cormier was critically injured despite wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. No one else was in the vehicle. A routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D has investigated 27 fatal crashes resulting in 31 deaths this year.
