TROOP D NEWS RELEASE September 27, 2016 Troopers Arrest Houston Man for Drug Possession after Pursuit LAKE CHARLES, LA – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D arrested a Houston man this morning for drug possession and other charges after he fled during a traffic stop. On September 27, 2016, at approximately 5:30 a.m., 39-year-old James Ramone Brown of Houston, Texas, was observed by a State Trooper speeding on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge and was stopped east of the bridge. Brown initially cooperated before running to the 2016 Dodge Charger he was driving and fleeing the scene at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Brown exited from I-10 at Opelousas Street and committed several additional traffic violations before stopping in a parking lot and fleeing on foot. He was caught soon afterward. The vehicle Brown was driving unlawfully displayed US Government license plates and contained approximately 22 ½ pounds of marijuana. Brown was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal possession of stolen things, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, and speeding. Brown was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $23,750. Contact Information: Sgt.
