TROOP D NEWS RELEASE February 10, 2017 Troopers Make Two Arrests for Child Pornography in Calcasieu Parish CALCASIEU PARISH, LA—Two men were arrested yesterday in Calcasieu Parish as the result of investigations into child pornography. Late last year, detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations initiated two separate investigations into the possession and sharing of child pornography in Calcasieu Parish. The investigations led Troopers to obtain search warrants for the residence of 39-year-old Jerame P. Simon of Sulphur as well as the residence of 52-year-old Phillip D. Alvarado of Lake Charles. The investigations revealed each of these men downloaded and shared videos of children being sexually abused. On February 9, 2017, the search warrants were served at both residences. During the searches, Simon and Alvarado each admitted to activities involving child pornography. Simon and Alvarado were charged with pornography involving juveniles and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. If convicted, they each face up to a $50,000 fine and from five to twenty years in prison without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and through public education.
