TROOP D NEWS RELEASE UPDATE January 19, 2017 Baby Becomes Fourth Victim of Allen Parish Crash BATON ROUGE, LA—One-year-old Palaisha Williams of Kinder was transported from the scene of a head-on crash in Allen Parish this morning with critical injuries. She has died this evening as a result of her injuries at a Baton Rouge hospital. Troop D has investigated 2 fatal crashes resulting in 5 deaths this year.
Impairment Suspected in Crash That Kills Three People in Allen Parish ALLEN PARISH, LA – Three people are dead and another critically injured after a head-on crash about 2 ½ miles east of Kinder this morning. On January 19, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a head-on crash involving two vehicles on US Highway 190 in Allen Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Nissan Sentra driven by 23-year-old Tyler J. Bamburg of Mamou was traveling west on US 190 when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 30-year-old Derrick Williams of Kinder, resulting in a severe head-on crash. Bamburg was not wearing seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams and his front seat passenger, 29-year-old Porsha Williams of Kinder, were also pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a one-year-old seated in the rear of the Cobalt was transported from the scene with critical injuries. All occupants of the Cobalt were properly restrained. Impairment on the part of Bamburg is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers for analysis and the crash remains under investigation. In 2015, 64 percent of people who died in crashes investigated by Troop D were killed by an impaired driver.
