TROOP D NEWS RELEASE January 6, 2017 Longville Man Dies in Crash on Interstate 10 CALCASIEU PARISH, LA – One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash this morning on I-10 between Westlake and Sulphur. On January 6, 2017, at 9:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-10 Westbound just east of Sulphur. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1995 Honda Civic was traveling west on Interstate 210 merging onto Interstate 10 Westbound. For unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the road to the right and struck a large traffic sign. The driver, 24-year-old Dylan Morrell of Longville, was transported to a Lake Charles hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries. Morrell and the passenger were both wearing a seatbelt. A routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
