TROOP D NEWS RELEASE January 4, 2017 Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Two Men and Recovery of Stolen Vehicle LAKE CHARLES, LA – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D arrested two men and recovered a stolen vehicle after a pursuit on I-10 in Calcasieu Parish this morning. On January 4, 2017, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Troopers observed a stolen 2004 Chevrolet Malibu traveling east on I-10 west of Sulphur. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver, later identified as 32-year-old Kyle Marice, Jr. of Lake Charles refused to stop. The Sulphur Police Department successfully deployed spike strips causing the tires to deflate on the left side of the vehicle as the driver continued east. As the vehicle crossed the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge the passenger, 34-year-old Rhonny Burnett of Dallas, Texas, tossed a package from the vehicle suspected to be narcotics. Troopers, with assistance from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, searched the area but were unable to locate the package. Marice stopped the vehicle after crossing the bridge. He and Burnett were taken into custody without incident. Marice was charged with flight from an officer, illegal possession of stolen things, and driving under suspension. Burnett was charged with intentional littering and obstruction of justice. Both were booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Contact Information: Sgt.
