TROOP D NEWS RELEASE December 30, 2016 Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Two Mississippi Residents on Drug Charges LAKE CHARLES, LA – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D arrested two people from Mississippi for drug possession Wednesday after a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish. On the morning of December 28, 2016, a Trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D observed the driver of a 2008 Toyota Camry commit a traffic violation on I-10 east of Lake Charles. After stopping the vehicle, permission to search was obtained resulting in the recovery of approximately 2.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 988 ecstasy tablets, and a .40 caliber Taurus handgun. The driver, 25-year-old Sean Burnett of Brookhaven, Mississippi, was charged with possession of Schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting an officer, misrepresentation during booking, improper lane use, and turn signal violation. His bond was set at $461,000. The passenger, 27-year-old Lakesha Caffie of Brookhaven, Mississippi, was charged with possession of Schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to distribute. Her bond was set at $20,000. The approximate street value of the seized drugs is $50,000. Both subjects were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Contact Information: Sgt.
