Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE May 30, 2011 Fatal Crash In Lafourche Parish Claims The Life Of A Thibodaux Man Lafourche – On Monday, May 30, 2011, at approximately 8:58 a.m., Troop C investigated a fatal vehicle crash on LA 20 west of Appletree Drive in Lafourche Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Thibodaux man. Toni Aucoin (W/F, 30 of Thibodaux, LA) was operating a 2009 Infiniti G 37 westbound on LA 20 when she ran into the rear of a 1998 Honda motorcycle being operated by Louis Ledet Jr. (W/M, 43 of Thibodaux, LA). According to a witness behind Aucoin, Ledet was not operating his motorcycle at a constant speed. It appeared the motorcycle was speeding up and slowing down. It is unknown if this was due to driver error or mechanical problems. Upon impact, Ledet was ejected from the motorcycle. Aucoin was wearing her seat belt and received minor injuries. Aucoin was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Ledet received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Ledet was not wearing an approved DOT helmet. Alcohol and/or drug involvement is not suspected in the crash. Toxicology results are pending from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Charges are pending in the crash as Troopers continue their investigation. REMEMBER: 1) Louisiana state law requires everyone to wear an approved DOT helmet when riding a motorcycle. Please Remember To Watch For Motorcycles!!! 2) Always keep a safe following distance!!!!!!!
