Date: May 13, 2011 LSP Criminal Investigations Lead To Multiple Arrest
Houma: The Louisiana State Police Region I Criminal Investigative Division’s Houma Office conducted three investigations resulting in the arrest of three individuals involved in criminal activity.
On Monday, May 9, 2011, LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division’s Houma Office was assisted by the Houma Office of Homeland Security Investigations in serving an arrest warrant on David Ganaway (W/M, 54 of Morgan City, LA). A search warrant was also executed at Ganaway’s residence at 141 Vista Village Lane, Morgan City, LA. Several computers were seized as part of the investigation. Ganaway is accused of committing the crime of production of child pornography. Ganaway allegedly shared pornographic images of his four year-old son via a web cam. Ganaway was booked at the St. Mary Parish Jail. No bond has been set.
On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division’s Houma Office was contacted by the Houma Office of Motor Vehicles regarding a Hispanic male attempting to obtain a Louisiana I.D. with fraudulent documents. The investigation revealed that Alfonso E. Gomez (H/M, 30 of Mexico) was attempting to obtain a Louisiana I.D. in the name of Ricardo Arenas using fraudulent documents he had allegedly purchased. Gomez is accused of committing the crime of unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identification. Gomez was booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. No bond was set and a hold was placed for immigration.
On Thursday, May 12, 2011, LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division’s Baton Rouge Office was assisted by LSP Troop A in serving a Terrebonne Parish arrest warrant on Michael J. Verbois (W/M, 23 of Baton Rouge, LA). Verbois is accused of Indecent behavior with a juveniles, computer aided solicitation of a minor, and attempted production of child pornography.
The arrest stems from the program Operation Child Watch. LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division’s Houma office conducted an undercover operation in March of 2011, targeting persons intending to contact children on the internet and engaging them in sexually explicit communication. During such operation, Verbois engaged in sexually explicit conversation, sent nude pictures of himself and performed inappropriate acts via a web cam with an undercover trooper posing as a fourteen year-old female. Verbois was arrested at his residence in Baton Rouge, LA and booked at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail. Bond was set at $75,000.00. Verbois is waiting extradition to Terrebonne Parish.
