Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE Fatal Crash In Lafourche Parish Claims The Life Of A Galliano Woman Lafourche – On March 16, 2011, at approximately 8:43 p.m., Troop C investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 3235 at the intersection of LA 3161 in Cut Off, LA. The crash claimed the life of a thirty-nine year-old Galliano woman. Karen Ledet (W/F, 39 of Galliano, LA) was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on LA 3161 at the intersection of LA 3235. Ledet was attempting to make a left turn onto LA 3235 and failed to yield to a northbound 2003 International 18-wheeler driven by Ronald Provost (B/M, 54 of Baldwin, LA). Provost was traveling in the inside lane of LA 3235. Ledet received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Ledet’s right front passenger, a fifteen year-old female from Galliano, LA received critical injuries and was transported to the Lady of the Sea Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Provost was not injured in the crash. Seat belts were worn by all occupants. Alcohol and/or drug involvement is not suspected in the crash. Blood results are pending from the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. A breath test was administered to Provost indicating no detectable alcohol found.
