Fatal Crash In Terrebonne Parish Claims The Life Of A Napoleonville Man

Terrebonne – On Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11:21 p.m., a crash on LA 24 north in Terrebonne Parish claims the life of a Napoleonville Man.

Jonathan B. Durocher (WM, 28 of Napoleonville, LA) was operating a 2003 Toyota Camry northbound on LA 24 north in Houma, LA. Durocher for unknown reasons, ran off of the northbound lane to the right, over-corrected, and ran off of the northbound lane to the left striking a fence, an unoccupied van, and the building of the Blooming Orchid Florist located at 6616 LA 24 north.

The investigation also revealed that Durocher had taken the vehicle from the Exxon convenience store at the corner of LA 24 north and Hollywood Road. The driver of the vehicle, David Potter (W/M, 20 of Houma, LA) stopped at the store and left the vehicle unlocked with the engine running. When Potter exited the store he observed the white male driving off and heading northbound on LA 24 north at a high rate of speed.

Durocher who was not wearing a seat belt received fatal injuries. Durocher was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.

Speed will be a factor in the crash. Alcohol and drug use is unknown pending toxicology results from the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. No charges filed and Troopers are continuing their investigation.

Louisiana state law requires ALL occupants in a motor vehicle to wear a seat belt!!!!

REMEMBER, don’t leave vehicles unattended!!!!
