Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 15, 2011 Fatal Crash Claims The Life Of A Galliano Man Lafourche- On Friday, July 15, 2011, at approximately 11:26 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatal crash on LA 1 south of West 186th Street in Galliano, LA. Curtis Slade (W/M, 47, of Galliano, LA), was operating a 2006 Nissan Titan southbound on LA 1. Due to Slade driving too fast for weather conditions, his vehicle crossed the centerline and was struck by a northbound 2011 Ford pickup driven by Richard Hernandez (W/M, 31 of Larose, LA). Slade received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Hernandez received moderate injuries and was transported to Lady of the Sea Hospital in Galliano, LA. Both drivers were properly restrained. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Blood was drawn as per state law and toxicology results are pending from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Troopers are continuing their investigation.
