Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 9, 2011 Fatal Crash Claims The Life Of A Lockport Man Lafourche- On Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at approximately 3:48 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatal crash on LA 1 south of the Belle Vue Bridge in Lockport, LA. Vincent Trevino (O/M, 28 of Houston, TX), was operating a 2010 Dodge pickup northbound on LA 1 and for unknown reasons, crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 1978 Ford pickup head-on being driven by Roy Rivet Jr. (W/M, 55 of Lockport, LA). Trevino received moderate injuries and was transported to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital in Raceland, LA by Acadian Ambulance. Rivet received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Both drivers were properly restrained. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Blood was drawn as per state law and toxicology results are pending from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Trevino has been charged with DWI, Vehicular Homicide, and Driving left of Center and will be booked at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center upon his release from the hospital. Troopers are continuing their investigation.
