Three People Arrested after Troopers Find Narcotics during I-10 Traffic Stops

Port Allen – On the evening of April 19th and early in morning of April 20th Louisiana State Troopers arrested three individuals for various narcotics related charges. The arrests came after Troopers stopped two separate vehicles on I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish. Both traffic stops yielded several pounds of illegal narcotics.

The first traffic stop occurred shortly before 7:00 pm on April 19th. Troopers observed a 2008 Buick Enclave traveling eastbound on I-10 west of LA Hwy 415. Troopers stopped the driver of the Buick (50 year old Carl Green of Yemassee, SC) for a traffic violation. A State Police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Upon doing so Troopers located approximately 27 pounds of cocaine in a hidden compartment in the vehicle. Green was placed under arrest and charged with Improper lane usage and Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics - cocaine. He was transported to the West Baton Rouge Parish jail and booked on the above listed charges.

The second traffic stop occurred shortly before 2:30 am on April 20th. Troopers observed a 2015 Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on I-10 near LA Hwy 1. Troopers stopped the driver of the Ford (34 year old Terence C. Jones, Jr. of New Orleans) for a traffic violation. A State Police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Upon doing so Troopers located approximately 18 pounds of marijuana along with approximately $5,500 in cash. Jones and his passenger (19 year old Jasmine N. Rhea of Algiers, LA) were placed under arrest. Jones was charged with Improper lane usage and Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics - marijuana. Rhea was charged with Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics - marijuana. Both were transported to the West Baton Rouge Parish jail and booked on the above listed charges.

Louisiana State Troopers will continue to provide the citizens of Louisiana a safer community through proactive drug related enforcement and cooperative efforts with local and federal law enforcement agencies. Troopers will target local and multi-state drug trafficking organizations by enforcing all state and federal laws governing the illicit manufacturing, distribution, sale, and use of drugs.
