Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 4, 2010 Crash on North Hollywood Road Claims One Life Terrebonne Parish – On November 3, 2010, at approximately 11:25 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatality crash on North Hollywood Road, between Corporate Drive and LA 311. Preliminary investigation revealed a 1998 Honda Civic, driven by Brett Himel (W/M, age 22) of Houma, LA, was traveling east on North Hollywood Road and Himel failed to negotiate a right curve and ran off the road to the right. Himel then over corrected the Civic, swerving back on the roadway and crossed the centerline impacting a 2007 Ford Truck that was traveling west on North Hollywood Road. The Ford was driven by Mathew Bourgeois (W/M, age 29) of Houma, LA. Himel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital, where he later died from the injuries he sustained. Bourgeois was wearing a seatbelt and did not have any injuries. Impairment is not suspected for Bourgeois and toxicology results are pending the autopsy for Himel. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires that EVERYONE in the vehicle is buckled up. Remember to buckle the seatbelt before the vehicle is put into motion. Seatbelts save lives.
