| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 3, 2010 Houma Resident Dies in Crash on LA Highway 24 Lafourche Parish – This morning, shortly after 4:00 AM, troopers investigated a fatal crash on LA 24 at milepost 32.3, which is two (2) miles from Bollinger. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Toyota Echo, driven by Leonard Folse (B/M, age 45) of Houma, LA, was traveling south on LA 24. For unknown reasons, the Toyota rotated counter-clockwise and crossed the centerline. The Toyota was struck by a 2006 Ford F-350, driven by Richard Racki (W/M, age 55) of Galliano, LA, that was traveling north on LA 24. Folse was pronounced dead on the scene. Impairment is unknown at this time, pending toxicology results. Racki was wearing a seatbelt; however, Folse was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of buckling up every time they get into the vehicle. Louisiana law requires that everyone in the vehicle, regardless of seating position, have a seat belt properly fastened any time the vehicle is in motion. The safest place to be, in the event of a crash, is INSIDE the vehicle. To ensure you remain inside the vehicle, Buckle Up!
