Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 26, 2010 Fatal Crash Claims The Life Of A New Orleans Teen Lafourche- On Saturday, September 25, 2010, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatal crash on Bowie Rd. eight tenths of a mile west of LA 1. The crash claimed the life of a New Orleans teen. Eric Zeringue (W/M, 42 of Schriever, LA) was operating a 2006 Dodge pickup eastbound on Bowie Rd. in Thibodaux, LA. Zeringue was pulling a utility trailer in a hay ride for a fraternity at Nicholls State University. The hay ride was part of the fraternity’s homecoming festivities. One of the passengers, Nathan Trepagnier (W/M, 19 of New Orleans, LA.) was riding on the trailer and for unknown reasons, fell forward from the trailer onto the roadway. Zeringue was unaware of the incident and continued forward with the trailer running over Trepagnier. Zeringue was wearing a seat belt and received no injuries. No other passengers received any injuries. Trepagnier was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance and was pronounced dead at the hospital for injuries received in the crash. A breath test was administered to Eric Zeringue which indicated no detectable alcohol in the test result. Blood was drawn from Trepagnier and results are pending from the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. No chargers were filed and Troopers are continuing their investigation. Contact Information: | |||
