Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release September 26, 2010 Fatal Crash Claims The Life Of A Belle Rose Man Assumption- On Sunday, September 26, 2010, at approximately 5:58 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatal crash on LA 70, east of LA 996 in Assumption Parish. Cardell Anderson (B/M, 31 of Belle Rose, LA) was operating a 1995 Ford Explorer westbound on LA 70 and for unknown reasons, failed to negotiate a left banking curve and ran off roadway to the right. Anderson’s vehicle traveled 272 feet off the roadway before reentering the roadway. Upon reentering the roadway, the vehicle overturned several times, ejecting all five occupants. The driver, received fatal injuries, right front seat passenger, Tammy Ross (B/F, 38 of Belle Rose, LA.) received serious injuries, left rear passenger, (B/F, 14 of Belle Rose, LA.) received critical injuries, middle rear passenger, (B/F, 10 of Belle Rose, LA.) received moderate injuries, and right rear passenger, Shernetta Adams (B/F, 21 of Belle Rose, LA.) received serious injuries. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. All other occupants were transported by Acadian Ambulance to area hospitals. Seat belts were not used by any of the occupants. Louisiana law requires everyone in the vehicle to be properly restrained. Alcohol and/or drug usage is unknown, blood was drawn as per state law and toxicology results are pending from the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. Troopers are continuing their investigation.
