Fatal Crash in Terrebonne Parish Claims the Life of a Houma Man

Terrebonne – On Monday, January 24, 2011, at approximately 3:20 p.m. Troop C investigated a three vehicle crash on LA 24 south of LA 55 in Terrebonne Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Houma man.

Herbert Jackson (B/M, 51 of Houma, LA) was operating a 2001 Ford pickup northbound on LA 24 in Bourg, LA. For unknown reasons, Jackson failed to negotiate a left bank curve and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and struck a 2006 Dodge pickup, driven by Michael Becker (W/M, 32 of Houma, LA) head on. A 2005 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Veronica Roussell (W/F, 35 of Cut Off, LA) was directly behind the Becker vehicle, and was struck by debris from the initial impact.

Jackson was not wearing a seat belt and received fatal injuries. Becker was wearing a seat belt and received moderate injuries. Roussell was wearing a seat belt and received no injuries. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne parish Coroner’s Office. Becker was transported to Terrebonne Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance.

The involvement of alcohol and /or drug usage is not suspected in the crash. Blood results are pending from the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office and Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Troopers are continuing their investigation.

Louisiana law requires EVERYONE in a vehicle to be properly restrained!!! Please Remember to Buckle Up!!!!!!!
