New Iberia Man Arrested for Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor
Houma: On Thursday, January 13, 2011, Jacob Derouen (W/M, 30 of New Iberia) was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued in Terrebonne Parish. Derouen is accused of committing crimes of indecent behavior with a juvenile, pornography with a juvenile, and computer aided solicitation with a minor. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office executed the arrest warrant on Derouen at his residence in New Iberia, LA. Derouen was arrested and booked at the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office and later transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. No bond has been set on Derouen.
The arrest warrant stems from the program Operation Child Watch. In November of 2010, LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division, Houma office conducted undercover operations targeting persons intending to contact children on the internet and engaging them in sexually explicit communication. During such operation, Derouen engaged in sexually explicit conversations with an undercover trooper posing as a 14 year old female. Derouen exposed himself via a webcam, and sent nude and inappropriate images to the posing 14 year old female.
The Operation Child Watch was started under the leadership of Col. Mike Edmonson in October 2008. The mission of Operation Child Watch is to rescue children from the hands of abusers, to proactively investigate cases involving the sexual abuse of children, and educate parents on the dangers of the internet.
