Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE Fatal Crash In Terrebonne Parish Claims The Life Of A Thibodaux Woman Gray – On December 9, 2010, at approximately 11:12 a.m., Troop C investigated a fatal vehicle crash on LA 24 (South) north of LA 316 in Terrebonne Parish. The crash claimed the life of a forty-four year old Thibodaux woman. Sandra Richard (W/F, 44 of Thibodaux, LA) was operating a 2006 Hyundai Elantra southbound on LA 24. Richard was in the outside lane and made an improper left turn into the path of a 2006 Kenworth dump truck, driven by Dale Bourgeois (W/M, 33 of Thibodaux, LA) Bourgeois was in the inside lane of LA 24 and was unable to avoid the crash. Richard received fatal injuries and her right-front passenger, Clara Aysenne (W/F, 60 of Thibodaux, LA) and left-rear passenger, (W/F, 12 of Thibodaux, LA) received moderate injuries. All occupants in Richard’s vehicle were transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Both drivers and occupants were properly restrained. Richard died as a result of her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Bourgeois was administered a breath test which indicated no detectable alcohol found on his part in the crash. Alcohol and/or drug involvement is not suspected in the crash. Toxicology results are pending from the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
