TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

Date: December 28, 2010

Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for Terrebonne Parish

Louisiana State Police Troop C will conduct a DWI Checkpoint on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in Terrebonne Parish. The DWI Checkpoint will run between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The checkpoint will be manned by Louisiana State Police Troop C, Houma Police Department, and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Every year on the highways across the state of Louisiana, numerous people are killed or injured by impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints are an effective enforcement tool serving as a deterrent to impaired and/or drunk driving. The task of stopping these impaired drivers is a joint effort of law enforcement agencies and the public. Never allow an impaired driver to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and report any dangerous drivers to law enforcement. The public can play an important role in making the remainder of the holiday season a safe one. Give the gift of life; have everyone buckle up and have a designated driver this holiday season.

Please remember to buckle up, slow down, and don’t drive impaired. Contact the Louisiana State Police by dialing *LSP or (*577) on your cell phone to report any unsafe driving and/or dangerous roadway conditions.
