TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE March 8, 2013 Helping Dreams Come True! In September of 1989, the Troop C Trooper's Association adopted the Troop C Grant-A-Wish Program. The Grant-A-Wish Program enables children with a life-altering or life-threatening illness, who reside in the Troop C community, to fulfill a wish they would not otherwise be financially able to fulfill. The Grant-A-Wish program has granted 6 wishes so far this year, with several more already planned. The wishes have ranged from meeting their favorite singer or hero to Disney World vacations. The latest wish was granted this past week to Alise Gros of the Lockport area. Alise is a 7 year old child with a life-altering illness as well as several other medical problems. When she was asked if she had any wish in the world what would it be, she said she wished to meet and sing with Tim McGraw. After many months of planning, she traveled to Las Vegas with her family to meet Tim McGraw. While in Las Vegas, she was able to take a behind the scenes tour of M&M World and was allowed to make her very own M&M’s. Alise was very excited to make her very own M&M’s with “Alise loves Tim” printed on them. She was also allowed access to a member’s only tour of the Lied Children’s Discovery Museum before it even opened to the public. Alise attended the Tim McGraw concert where she met Tim McGraw and Faith Hill before the show. She was able to sing her favorite song with Tim McGraw and presented him with her personalized “Alise loves Tim” M&M’s. During the concert, Tim McGraw stopped the show and called Alise to the stage where he presented her with a signed guitar, something that was not planned. When she was asked if she enjoyed the trip, she said her trip was the “best ever” and “terrific”. The Troop C Grant-A-Wish Program is funded through private donations, annual fund-raisers, and by a Corporate Sponsorship Program. The Program is also very proud to be partnered with several civic organizations in the Troop C area. The Troop C community includes Assumption, Lafourche, and Terrebonne Parishes, and St. James and St. John the Baptist Parishes on the west side of the Mississippi River.
