TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE March 11, 2013 Pedestrian Killed Last Night In Terrebonne Parish Gray, LA- Shortly before 9 PM yesterday evening, a pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a car on LA 24 North. The investigation revealed that a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling north on LA 24 North in the left lane near the Pitt Bridge. The Chrysler was being driven by India Walker (B/F age 25) of Schriever, LA. As Walker approached the Pitt Bridge she noticed a person lying in the roadway directly ahead of her. Walker steered to the right in an attempt to avoid striking the pedestrian, but wasn’t able to avoid the pedestrian in time. The pedestrian was later identified as William Winslow (B/M age 43) of Gray, LA. Winslow was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Walker, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash. Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending for Winslow. Walker submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. This crash remains under investigation.
