TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE February 7, 2013 Pedestrian Struck And Killed In St. John Parish Edgard, LA- Shortly after 12:30 PM this afternoon, Louisiana State Police Troop C was notified by the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office about a pedestrian that was struck and killed by an unknown hit and run vehicle on LA 18 between East 2nd and Columbia Street in St. John Parish. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian, Darryl Gorden (B/M age 47) of Edgar, LA, was struck and killed while walking in or near the southbound lane of LA 18. It is unclear if Gorden was walking northbound or southbound at the time he was struck. After the hit and run vehicle struck Gorden it fled the scene. Gorden was discovered by an unknown person who called the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office around 12:30 this afternoon. Gorden was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. John Parish Coroner’s Office. Gorden, who was wearing dark clothing, was last seen around 7 PM last night and was most likely struck sometime last night or early this morning. State Police does not have any information on the hit and run vehicle at this time. Alcohol use is suspected to be factor for Gorden. Routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. | |||
