Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Terrebonne Parish

Houma, LA- Shortly after 5:30 pm yesterday afternoon, a pedestrian was struck and killed on LA 315 near Porche Lane in Terrebonne Parish.

The investigation revealed that a 2002 GMC Sierra was traveling north on LA 315 when it struck a pedestrian who was standing in the roadway for unknown reasons. The Sierra was being driven by Jeffery Hardwick (W/M age 52) of Houma, LA. Hardwick, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured in the crash. The pedestrian, Wayne Lark (W/M age 52) of Houma, LA, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Lark was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash.

Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending for Lark. Hardwick submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. This crash remains under investigation.


Pedestrians should always be aware of their surroundings and make sure to cross intersections and streets when it’s safe to do so. Remember to wear bright and reflective clothing when walking or bicycling at night. Bicycles must also have a lamp mounted on the front that shall emit a white light visible from a distance of at least five hundred feet to the front. They shall also have a lamp mounted on the rear that will emit either a flashing or steady red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet to the rear.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
