TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE September 9, 2013 Double Fatality Crash on LA 3235 in Lafourche Parish Larose, LA- Shortly before 6 AM this morning, a 71 year old Larose man and his 63 year old female passenger were killed after a vehicle failed to stop at an intersection and was struck by another vehicle on LA 3235 in Lafourche Parish. The investigation revealed that a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling west on LA 657 approaching the LA 3235 intersection in Larose, LA. The Cavalier was being driven by Steven Bourg (W/M age 71) of Larose, LA. As the Cavalier approached the intersection, Bourg failed to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection. As the Cavalier was crossing the intersection, it was struck on the driver’s side by a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling north in the left lane of LA 3235. The Silverado was being driven by Ivy Terrebonne Jr. (W/M age 45) of Cut Off, LA. Terrebonne, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Lady of the Sea Hospital. Bourg and the front seat passenger in the Cavalier, Patricia Farmer (W/F age 63) of Galliano, LA, received fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending for Bourg. Blood was taken from Terrebonne and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind everyone to always be aware of their surroundings, and to obey all posted signs and warning devices. While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police. Contact Information: Tfc.
