TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE September 18, 2013 Trooper Saves Suicidal Jumper in Terrebonne Parish Schriever, LA- Shortly after 08:30 AM this morning, a Louisiana State Police Trooper talked a distraught Thibodaux woman out of jumping off the Schriever Overpass in Terrebonne Parish. Louisiana State Police Troop C in Gray, LA, received a call from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office in reference to a female standing on top of the southbound lanes of the LA 24 Schriever Overpass. Sergeant Larry Badeaux, who was a couple of miles away, responded to the incident and was the first to arrive on scene. Once on top of the bridge, Sergeant Badeaux noticed that the female appeared to be distraught. Sergeant Badeaux spoke to the woman and convinced her to step away from the guard rail. For her safety, Sergeant Badeaux placed the female inside his patrol vehicle. The female was identified as a 33 year old from the Thibodaux area. Once in the vehicle, she explained that she was on top of the bridge thinking about committing suicide. The Thibodaux woman was then brought to Louisiana State Police Troop C where medical personnel arrived and transported her to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
