TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE June 4, 2013 Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Assumption Parish Napoleonville, LA- Shortly after 10 PM last night, a pedestrian was struck and killed after walking into the path of an oncoming vehicle on LA 1 in Assumption Parish. The investigation revealed that a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling north on LA 1 approaching LA 400. The Malibu was being driven by Junius Scott (B/M age 79) of Napoleonville, LA. As the Malibu traveled north on LA 1, a pedestrian walked out into the path of the vehicle. The Malibu was unable to avoid the pedestrian in time and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was later identified as James Miller (B/M age 59) of Napoleonville, LA. Miller was pronounced dead on the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. Scott, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash. Scott submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. Impairment is unknown at this time for Miller and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. | |||
