Man Dies After Being Ejected From Car During Crash


St. James, LA- Shortly after 9 PM yesterday evening, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a vehicle crash on LA 3219 in St. James Parish where a man was ejected after his vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

The investigation revealed that a 1999 Dodge Ram was traveling west on LA 3219 just east of LA 3127. The Ram was being driven by Allen Morrison (B/M age 64) of St. James, LA. For unknown reasons, the Ram traveled off the right side of the road and continued on the grassy shoulder for almost 300 feet before re-entering LA 3219. When the Ram crossed the center line of LA 3219, Morrison overcorrected to the right causing the Ram to rotate clockwise. The Ram rotated off the right side of the roadway where it overturned and ejected Morrison. Morrison, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office.


Investigating Troopers report that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.


While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.


Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
