TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE

Female Passenger Dies In LA 24 South Crash

Shortly after 2 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a vehicle crash on LA 24 South in Terrebonne Parish where a female passenger was killed.

The investigation revealed that a 2009 Dodge Dakota was traveling south on LA 24 South by Marcel Street behind a Chevrolet Colorado. The Dakota was being driving by Evans Robinson (W/M age 80) of Houma, LA. The Colorado was being driven by Ashton Dehart Jr. (W/M age 18) of Theriot, LA. For unknown reasons the Dakota struck the Colorado in the rear, forcing it off the left side of the road. After leaving the road, the Colorado struck a camper trailer that was parked on private property. The Dakota traveled off the road to the right where it struck a tree on the passenger side. The front seat passenger, Sandra Robinson (W/F age 66) of Houma, LA, was pronounced dead on scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Evans Robinson was transported to Chabert Medical Center with moderate injuries. Dehart was not injured in the crash.

Seat belts were worn by all parties involved.

Investigating Troopers report that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Blood was taken from Evans Robinson and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Dehart was given a breath test and cleared of any alcohol involvement. This crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
