Motorcyclist Dies in LA 307 Crash

Kraemer, LA- Shortly after 8 PM last night, a 26 year old Kraemer man was killed when his motorcycle struck a utility pole after failing to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The investigation revealed that a 2005 Suzuki GSXR600 motorcycle was traveling southbound on LA 307 around mile post 9 in Kraemer. The motorcycle was being driven by Eric Allemand, (W/M age 26) of Kraemer, LA. As the motorcycle was traveling south, it failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. The motorcycle crossed the center line and traveled off the left side of the road. The motorcycle struck a guy wire and utility pole, ejecting Allemand from the motorcycle. Allemand, who was wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.

Investigating Troopers report that alcohol impairment is unknown at this time. Routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind motorists that driving at high speeds is dangerous, and often leads to serious injuries or death in motor vehicle crashes. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
