TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE September 11, 2012 Pedestrian Killed While Walking on LA 3235 Shortly after 3 AM this morning, Louisiana State Police investigated a fatality crash on LA 3235 in Lafourche Parish where a pedestrian was tragically killed. The investigation revealed that Brandon Orgeron (W/M age 36) of Galliano, LA was walking in the right southbound lane of LA 3235 near West 151st Street in Galliano, LA. While Orgeron was walking, he was struck by a 2003 Pontiac Vibe traveling south on LA 3235. The Vibe was being driven by Terry Joe McPherson Jr. (W/M age 27) of Sicily Island. After the initial impact, Orgeron was struck a second time by a 1995 Isuzu truck traveling south on LA 3235. The Isuzu was being driven by Guiseppe Corsaro (W/M age 55) of Elmer, LA. Immediately afterwards he was struck a third time by a 2001 Ford F-150 traveling south on LA 3235. The F-150 was being driven by Russell Woods (W/M age 33) of Melborne, AR. Orgeron was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. All the drivers, who were wearing their seat belts, were not injured in the crash. Orgeron was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash, and walking in an area with no street lighting. All the drivers submitted to breath tests and were cleared of any alcohol involvement. Routine toxicology tests are pending for Orgeron. This crash remains under investigation. Pedestrians should always be aware of their surroundings and make sure to cross intersections and streets when it’s safe to do so. Remember to wear bright and reflective clothing when walking or bicycling at night. Bicycles must also have a lamp mounted on the front that shall emit a white light visible from a distance of at least five hundred feet to the front. They shall also have a lamp mounted on the rear that will emit either a flashing or steady red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet to the rear.
