| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 18, 2010 Crash on LA 659 Claims One Life Terrebonne Parish – Early this morning, at approximately 12:14AM, Louisiana State Police Troop C responded to a crash on LA 659, just south of Lafayette Woods. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Chad M. Boudreaux (W/M, age 27) of Houma, LA, was traveling north on LA 659 at mile post 1.02. The vehicle entered a left curve and ran off the road to the left. The vehicle then struck a driveway and became airborne. Upon impact, the front bumper struck the ground causing the vehicle to flip end over end. Boudreaux was partially ejected and was pronounced dead on the scene. Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash and toxicology results are pending an autopsy. Boudreaux was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of buckling up and driving sober every time they get into the vehicle. Louisiana law requires that everyone in the vehicle, regardless of seating position, have a seat belt properly fastened any time the vehicle is in a forward motion. The safest place to be, in the event of a crash, is INSIDE the vehicle. To ensure you remain inside the vehicle, Buckle Up! Impaired drivers accounted for nearly half of the fatal crashes that occurred throughout the state last year. There is no excuse for impaired driving. Making the right decision BEFORE getting behind the wheel of a car impaired can mean the difference between life and death.
