Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 11, 2008 Fatal Crash on LA 315 in Terrebonne Parish On Friday, October 10, 2008 at 12:48 pm, Louisiana State Police, Troop C investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 315 milepost 18.8 at Gulf Island Fabricators. The crash involved a 2005 Ford pick up driven by Brian Brady (W/M, 31 yrs), of Thibodaux and a 1993 GMC pick up driven by Curren A. Labat (W/M, 87 yrs), of Raceland. The Ford was traveling southbound on LA 315 at which time it attempted to turn left into Gulf Island Fabricators driveway. As the Ford turned left, it entered the path of the GMC pickup, which was traveling northbound on LA 315 and impact occurred. The driver of the GMC, Curren Labat was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital with moderate injuries. The passenger in the GMC, Isabel T. Labat was transported to Chaubert Medial Center where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, Brady suffered no injuries in the crash. (NOTE: Mrs. Labat’s exact cause of death is still under investigation due to a prior medical condition.) Driver impairment is unknown at this time. (Results pending a toxicology examination.) At this time, the crash is still under investigation and Mr. Brady has not been charged at this time. Trooper Thibodeaux is continuing his investigation.
