Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 30, 2008 Head-On Crash on Dularge Overpass Kills Mississippi Man Houma- On Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at approximately 6:45 PM, two vehicles struck head-on atop the Dularge Overpass of LA 315 claiming the life of a Mississippi man. Rodney Meyers (W/M, 53, of Lumberton, MS) was driving his 2005 Mercedes-Benz westbound on LA 315 up the Dularge overpass. Alvin Yates (W/M, 60, of Houma, LA) was driving a 1997 Ford F150 eastbound on LA 315 down the Dularge overpass in the left lane. Meyers drove his vehicle across the double-yellow lines in an attempt to pass a vehicle. The Mercedes then struck the eastbound Ford head-on and came to rest blocking the lanes. Rodney M. Meyers was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Alvin Yates was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital with moderate injuries. They were the only occupants in either vehicle and both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected, but analysis is pending on both drivers. Tpr.
