Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: August 22, 2008 Wife Dies in Two Vehicle Crash in Montegut, LA On Thursday, August 21, 2008, at approximately 5:00 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop C was called to a crash on LA 55 at LA 58 in Montegut, LA in Terrebonne Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Bourg woman.A 2008 blue Kia Rio driven northbound on LA 55 by Wickliff J. Dupre (77, of Bourg, LA) failed to yield the right of way while turning left onto LA 58 and was struck in the passenger side of a southbound Ford Mustang. The 2008 Ford Mustang was being driven southbound on LA 55 by Melissa Plaisance (35, of Montegut, LA). The Rio’s driver, Wickliff Dupre, was wearing his seat belt and was transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance Air Med with moderate injuries. His wife, Betty Dupre (70, of Bourg, LA) was the front seat passenger, and she transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance with what appeared to be moderate injuries. She was pronounced dead a short time later. She was wearing her seat belt. The Mustang’s driver, Melissa Plaisance, was transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance with minor injuries. She was also wearing her seat belt. There were no other occupants in the Mustang. Alcohol is suspected on the part of Wickliff Dupre. A blood test was conducted and the results are pending from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge, LA. Alcohol use is not suspected on the part of Melissa Plaisance. A breath test was conducted resulting in a reading of .000g%. Charges in this crash are pending the results of Mr. Dupre's blood test. Tpr. Ruben Brown is continuing his investigation.
