Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: January 19, 2009 Unrestrained Mississippi Man Dies in Assumption Parish Crash Troop C- A Mississippi man died early this morning after the vehicle he was driving became totally submerged in Bayou Boeuf A 2005 Toyota Avalon, driven by Alvin T. Huyett (W/M, 43, of Pascagoula, MS), was westbound on the LA 182 Service Road approaching Bayou Boeuf Road in Assumption Parish. Upon reaching the T-intersection, the vehicle failed to make a right turn and continued straight across both lanes of Bayou Boeuf Road. After crossing Bayou Boeuf Road, the vehicle traveled down a steep embankment and began to roll onto the driver's side. The Toyota then came to rest totally submerged on its roof in Bayou Boeuf. Huyett sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Alcohol use is unknown and Huyett was not wearing his seat belt in the crash. This crash occurred on January 19, 2009, at approximately 1:40 AM. Trooper Evan Harrell continues his investigation.
