Harvey Woman Struck and Killed While Crossing LA 1 Near Grand Isle
Grand Isle- Shortly after daylight, a 76 year old Harvey woman was struck by a pick-up truck after walking into the roadway while fishing from the side of the road near Grand Isle, LA.

On Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at approximately 6:30 am, Ui Song (76, of Harvey, LA) was fishing on Elmer’s Island Bridge in Grand Isle, LA, which has two "No Fishing" signs posted for the bridge. She was attempting to cross LA 1 to meet her husband who was fishing across from her. As she attempted to cross LA 1 from the northbound shoulder to the southbound shoulder, she was stuck by a southbound Chevrolet truck. The 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was being driven by Kendal Reynaud (W/M, 36, of Brookhaven, MS).

Reynaud, who was the only occupant in his truck, did not receive any injuries as a result of the crash. Song received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office. Reynaud was wearing his seat belt and his airbag did not deploy.

Alcohol and drug use are not suspected in the crash. Reynaud submitted to a breath test, and his results were .000g% indicating no alcohol. An analysis of Song’s blood will be conducted by the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, and the results are pending. There are no charges pending in the crash. Trooper Ben Thibodeaux is continuing his investigation.
