Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 25, 2008 Head-On Crash in Lafourche Parish in Bayou Blue Bayou Blue- On Monday, November 24, 2008, at about 10:30 PM, Troop C responded to a two vehicle crash on LA 316 in Lafourche Parish that ejected one unrestrained driver and critically injured the other restrained driver. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Norris D. Necaise (W/M, 31, of Laurel, MS), was traveling north on LA 316. A 2000 Geo Prizm, driven by Stella Gravois (W/F, 61, of Houma, LA), was traveling south on LA 316. The Chevrolet was exiting a right curve, crossed the center line, and struck the Geo Prizm head-on. After impact, the Chevrolet went off of the road to the right, overturned, and ejected Necaise. Nacaise came to rest in the northbound lane of LA 316, and the Chevrolet came to rest in the front yard of a residence located east of LA 316. After impact, the Geo Prizm was pushed backwards and came to rest against a utility pole west of LA 316. Gravois was extricated from her vehicle, and transported to Thibodaux Regional Hospital by Acadian Ambulance with critical injuries. Gravois was wearing her seat belt and alcohol use is not suspected on her behalf. Necaise was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Terrebonne General Hospital with moderate injuries. Necaise was not wearing his seat belt and alcohol/drug use is suspected. Results are pending analysis from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Speed is also considered to be a factor in the crash. TFC Murray Buquet is continuing his investigation and charges are pending.
