Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: February 5, 2009 AFLAC Agent Arrested After Submitting Bogus Applications Troopers from the Insurance Fraud/ Auto Theft Unit have completed an investigation that led to the arrest of an AFLAC insurance agent that intentionally and knowingly submitted bogus applications to profit nearly $48,000 dollars in agent commissions. In November of 2008, the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit began an investigation after they received a complaint from AFLAC regarding the suspected criminal conduct of AFLAC Agent Julia K. Moore (W/F, DOB 2/14/1984, of 109 Hope Street in Bourg, LA). In July of 2007, AFLAC supervisors reviewed some of the recent applications submitted by Julia K. Moore. They noticed many of the applications contained Julia K. Moore’s home address and that they all had the same bank account information. AFLAC then began an investigation and discovered approximately one hundred and eighty eight (188) bogus applications totaling $47,925.17 in agent commissions. Later in July of 2007, after having participated in two (2) audio taped telephone conversations, Julia K. Moore admitted that she had submitted fraudulent information regarding the questionable applications. After verifying the above information, the investigation conducted by the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit revealed Julia K. Moore willingly, knowingly, and intentionally committed one hundred and eighty eight (188) counts of Theft (in the amount of $47,925.17) and one hundred and eighty eight (188) counts of Forgery in Terrebonne Parish when she submitted fraudulent insurance applications so she could profit financially. On January 23, 2009, an Arrest Warrant was issued by Judge Walker of the 32nd Judicial District Court in Terrebonne Parish. The warrant was issued for one hundred and eighty eight (188) counts of Theft and one hundred and eighty eight (188) counts of Forgery. On February 3, 2009, information was received that Julia K. Moore was residing in Crowley, Louisiana and troopers located her at 405 East Spruce Street Crowley, LA 70526. Julia K. Moore was arrested and booked in the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office as a fugitive from Terrebonne Parish. She was then brought to Terrebonne Parish Jail and booked on the outstanding warrants.
