Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 25, 2008 Fifth Traffic Fatality in December Stems From Woman Falling From Truck Pierre Part- A woman died after falling from a pick-up truck in Pierre Part, LA on the night of Christmas Eve making it the fifth fatality crash in December. Rickey Gros, (W/M, 45, of Pierre Part, LA) was driving his 2006 Dodge truck south on LA 1016-2 (Belle River Rd.) in Assumption Parish. His only passenger, who was sitting in the front seat, Sabrina Gaspard (W/F, 32, of Pierre Part, LA) fell out of the truck and onto the road. Gros’s rear wheels struck Gaspard. This crash occurred on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at approximately 7:30 PM. Gros was not injured; however, Gaspard received critical injuries and was transported to Teche Regional Hospital in Morgan City, LA by Acadian Ambulance. She later died at the hospital. Gros and Gaspard were not wearing their seatbelts. Gros submitted to a breath test. The results of his breath test were .000g%. Gros also submitted to a blood and urine test. The blood and urine were sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and results are pending. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor on the part of Gaspard. Currently, there are no charges pending in the crash. Troopers are continuing their investigation.
