Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 26, 2008 Thanksgiving Eve Crash Leaves Golden Meadow Man Dead Port Fourchon- A crash on the evening before Thanksgiving in southern Lafourche Parish left a Golden Meadow man dead. On Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at approximately 6:00 PM, Conrad Griffin (29, of Golden Meadow, LA) was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi car northbound on LA 1 near Fourchon, LA. Griffin was traveling at a high rate of speed as he attempted to pass three vehicles in a passing zone. After passing the vehicles, Griffin lost control of his vehicle and began to rotate counterclockwise sliding sideways into the southbound lane of LA 1. Griffin’s vehicle was then struck by a southbound 2006 Chevrolet truck. The truck was being driven by Nathan Baudoin (31, of Grand Isle, LA). Griffin sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Baudoin was not injured in the crash. Both Griffin and Baudoin were wearing their seat belts. Baudoin’s airbag did deploy; however, Griffin’s did not. A breath alcohol test was performed on Baudoin. His results were .000g%. Impairment on the part of Griffin is unknown at this time pending analysis from the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. There are no charges pending in the crash. Trooper Ben Thibodeaux is continuing his investigation.
