Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 27, 2008 Thanksgiving Day Pedestrian Crash Claims the Life of 6 Year Old Child Chauvin- On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2008, at approximately 4:20 PM, Troop C was notified of a crash on LA 56 in southern Terrebonne Parish that claimed the life of a 6 year old boy. Mark Price (47, of Houma, LA) was driving a 1995 Dodge truck south on LA 56 in Chauvin, LA when he struck a 6 year old child, who was attempting to cross the street. Price was not injured in the crash. The 6 year old received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is suspected on the part of Price. The results of his breath tests were .000g%. Price was charged with DWI 1st Offense, Vehicular Homicide, Possession of Marijuana, Open Container, and Littering. Because of suspected drug use, blood and urine were obtained from Price and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge for analysis. Trooper Dawn Celestin is continuing her investigation.
