Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 7, 2008 Chackbay Crash Results in Second Fatality in December Chackbay- On Sunday, December 7, 2008 at approximately 1:15 AM, Troop C was notified and responded of a fatality traffic crash on LA 20 in Chackbay, LA. Craig Capello (W/M, 45, of Chackbay, LA) was operating a white 2000 GMC Jimmy eastbound on LA 20 in a straight section of roadway when he drifted across the centerline and ran off the roadway to the left. After leaving the roadway, he struck a tree head-on near 1317 Hwy 20. Capello was not wearing his seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol and drug-use is unknown with results pending from the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office. No charges were filed, and TFC Troy Landry is continuing his investigation.
